The Schenck Process Live
Bottom with Docking Station Simplifies the Unloading
of Waste Materials for its Alternative Fuel Feeding
System
released in August 2009
The
Schenck Process Live Bottom with Docking Station is
designed to convey materials such as
wood chips, shredded tires, auto fluff, paper, and
saw dust as part of its cement industry alternative
fuel feeding system. Utilizing four 12 inch
diameter screws positioned in the live bottom area
of the docking station allows waste materials from
the hopper above to be fed on to a conveyor. The
conveyor is coupled to the live bottom via a side
bolt flange.
The system is symmetrically designed eliminating any right or left hand configurations providing the flexibility to be mounted on either side of the conveyor. Ground level installation eliminates the need for pits or extensive civil work.
The four auger screws have a variable pitch design to achieve optimal mass flow for waste material sizes up to 100 mm being discharged from the docking station. When using recommended variable frequency drives the auger screw speeds can be adjusted to accommodate different feed rates. A viewing window on the side of the docking station provides observation of the system operation.
The docking station receives materials from a “walking floor” discharge trailer. A limit switch is triggered when the trailer is in position with the shelter. Once the trailer is positioned, a hydraulic power unit is attached to the walking floor enabling the material to be unloaded into the live bottom section of the docking station. A programmable ultrasonic switch with an analog output is mounted in the top panel of the shelter. The switch controls the walking floor trailer signaling high and low material levels in the shelter and contains multiple set points that are remotely accessible. A roll “garage door” is lowered after the material has been unloaded and the trailer removed.
Feed rates up to 186 cubic meters per hour and unloading capacities of 15 tons per hour are attainable for the Live Bottom with Docking Station. Single or dual docking stations are available.
